NWSC Board Engages Kyenjojo Leaders on Enhancement of Service Delivery in The District

KYENJOJO: The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Board on July 9th, 2025, engaged Kyenjojo District leaders to strengthen collaboration to achieve the corporation’s promise of water for all through improved service delivery in the region.

The meeting was characterised by key district officials, including the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Ms Sarah Ayesiga; Assistant RDC, Mr Thaddeo Kasaja; and District Internal Security Officer (DISO), Mr John Murugahara.

The leaders appreciated the Board’s efforts in following up on service provision and pledged their support to the newly deployed NWSC area management team in Kyenjojo. They also acknowledged the significance of a reliable and safe water supply to the district’s socio-economic development, noting the rapid urban growth experienced by Kyenjojo Town and its surrounding communities in recent years following NWSC’s takeover. The leaders, however, noted a gap in stakeholder engagement and therefore encouraged the NWSC Board to increase public sensitisation on issues such as environmental protection and the corporation’s water tariff structure.

In agreement with the district leaders, NWSC Board Chairman Eng. Dr Badru Kiggundu emphasised that stakeholder engagement is indeed central to the corporation’s operations, noting that customer feedback is both welcome and essential to improving service delivery. “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do,” he said, assuring the leaders that their concerns, particularly around service gaps and community engagement, would be taken seriously and addressed systematically.

Building on this commitment, Mr George Runge, Chairperson of the Technical Committee, called for deeper collaboration between local leaders and NWSC teams in the field to ensure more effective service delivery, while stressing the importance of jointly addressing issues such as the vandalism of water infrastructure and public misunderstandings around water tariffs.

Closing the engagement, Rt Col. Basaliza, Chairperson of the Human Resource Committee, spoke about the need for open communication between NWSC and the communities it serves, noting that listening to honest feedback helps the Corporation do its work better. He also reminded the leaders that NWSC is a neutral service provider committed to all Ugandans, regardless of location or background, guided by the principle of Water for All”.

“With your continued support”, he said, “we’ll keep strengthening water supply in Kyenjojo and doing what needs to be done to meet the needs of the people.”
