notices identifying Aline as a wanted person have been circulated in several areas

KAMPALA: Police have launched a search for a 26-year-old woman who reportedly disappeared after being released on bond in a case under investigation in the capital.

The woman, identified as Uwingeneye Aline is said to have gone missing after failing to comply with reporting conditions set by police following her release from custody.

According to police sources, Aline had earlier been arrested alongside another woman identified only as Donamu and detained at Industrial Area Police Station in Kampala.

The arrest is alleged to have stemmed from an incident at their workplace, Cross Point Energy Ltd, where the two were reportedly captured on CCTV cameras engaging in conduct that later triggered a police investigation.

“Following their arrest, the suspects were granted police bond pending further investigations, but one of them failed to honour the reporting conditions,” police said.

Police further revealed that attempts to trace Aline at her known residence were unsuccessful after officers found that she had already left the premises.

“Officers visited her place of residence, but she could not be found and had reportedly fled,” police added.

Her whereabouts remain unknown, although preliminary information suggests she may have initially left Kampala and briefly relocated to western Uganda before going off the radar.

Police say efforts to locate and re-arrest her are ongoing, with security teams extending operations beyond the capital.

“Search efforts are ongoing, and we are following up on leads to establish her current location,” police said.

Authorities also confirmed that notices identifying her as a wanted person have been circulated in several areas, including Ndejje and Kisoro, where she is suspected to have been sighted.

“Members of the public are urged to report any information that may assist in locating the suspect to the nearest police station,” police stated.

By press time, no formal public statement had been issued by the police leadership, but security sources maintain that the search remains active as investigations into the case continue.
