ENTEBBE: The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has announced significant progress in the ongoing restoration of water production at the Entebbe Water Works, assuring customers that full supply is expected to resume by the end of Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
In an update issued on Monday evening, NWSC said engineers and technical teams have been working continuously to restore normal operations following critical maintenance works at the water intake facility.
The corporation apologised to customers for the disruption caused by the reduced water supply and thanked residents and stakeholders for their patience throughout the maintenance period.
According to NWSC, several key milestones had been achieved by 7:30 p.m. on Monday, bringing the restoration exercise closer to completion.
Among the completed works are the fabrication and preparation of essential pipeline components, transportation of major materials and equipment to the site, and the successful movement of new high-capacity pumps and related infrastructure to the intake area.
The utility also reported that installation of the electrical control systems is nearing completion, while preparations for the final installation and commissioning of the new equipment have advanced significantly.
NWSC said the completed activities represent critical steps towards restoring full water production at the Entebbe Water Works.
The corporation remains optimistic that the ongoing works will be completed on schedule, allowing full production to resume by the end of Tuesday.
Once the newly installed pumps are commissioned, water supply is expected to improve progressively across Entebbe, with some areas likely to experience better water pressure and increased availability as early as Tuesday evening.
In the meantime, NWSC said it will continue operating the water works at limited capacity overnight to ensure essential water supply is maintained while the remaining installation works are completed.
The corporation reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable services, stating that it benchmarks its operations against leading water utilities globally by prioritising reliability, rapid response, transparency and customer care.
NWSC said it will provide another public update on Tuesday evening after the restoration works have been completed and full water production has been achieved.
The utility reiterated its appreciation to customers for their understanding and pledged to restore normal water supply as quickly and safely as possible.
