NWSC announces water supply interruptions in Gulu City after pipeline damage

GULU; Residents of Gulu City are set to experience water supply interruptions following damage to a major pipeline, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has announced.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, NWSC management said the disruption is intended to pave the way for urgent repair works on a section of the Karuma–Gulu bulk water pipeline. The pipeline was reportedly vandalized after being hit by a speeding motor vehicle.

The corporation noted that a clear timeline for the restoration of water services has not yet been determined, as engineers first need to assess the extent of the damage and remove the vehicle from the site.

NWSC has advised residents and businesses in Gulu City to store enough water and use it sparingly during the period of interruption.

“All inconveniences are highly regretted,” the statement read.

The temporary shutdown is expected to affect both domestic and commercial consumers, highlighting the vulnerability of key infrastructure to accidents and vandalism.
